August is over and I could not be any happier!
As some of you may know, August is the busiest time of the year for me. Working for HRC at The University of Alabama means I get to tackle move-in, orientation, beginning of classes craziness and so on. On top of it all, this year Chris and I had to deal with our own move-in. After two years of living in my first apartment, we decided it was time to move to Northport, AL. Now we are super close to our friends!
August also brought some extremely sad news. I know I have not been vocal at all about everything that is happening in Louisiana and Italy. I am still trying to wrap my head around it. I am extremely thankful that all my friends and family are well. And for those who lost loved ones and were in any way affected by these tragedies, I am praying for you.
If you would like to help the people of Lousiana, consider donating to Samaritan’s Purse. If instead you would like to help the Italian towns affected by the earthquake, please donate to the Italian Red Cross.
Now back to my August favorites. Here is a short list of things I loved trying or discovering this month!
1. Sweet Home Food Bar – Wine Tasting
Thanks to our lovely friends Teairra and Kerry for inviting us to this great wine tasting. Every Monday, Sweet Home Food Bar hosts a wine tasting night featuring 4 delicious courses and wine pairings. This is a fun way to try out some awesome imported wines and hangout with your friends. It’s so much fun!
2. Bocelli – Pinot Grigio
Did you know Andrea Bocelli, the renowned tenor, makes wine? Me either. This Pinot Grigio was one of the gems we enjoyed during the wine tasting at Sweet Home Food Bar. It was so good we decided to buy some and have it shipped directly to Tuscaloosa. All we had to do is order it during the wine tasting. Thank you SHFB, you da bomb!
Bath and Body Work I love you! August was so stressful. I have been so stressed that my left eye was twitching for a good 2 weeks. This little friend was so much help. I plugged it into my office wall and the whole room smelled so good. If you are looking for some soothing, subtle scents to help you relax, you are going to love this wallflower.
On my July favorite I shared my new found love for bullet journaling. These pens are absolutely the best for journaling, or for filling your life with color.
I know what you are thinking … At first both Chris and I were very skeptical about Thai curry in a box, but trust me, it is actually really good. The box already includes curry mix, coconut milk, dried herbs, and bamboo shoots. All you have to do is add your choice of meat, tofu, or shrimp, veggies, and some water. Super easy and fast. Perfect for those inexperienced cooks, or tired people like me!
6. Saint John The Baptist Cathedral
As I mentioned in my post about Savannah, GA, this place is indescribable. You just have to see it for yourself. These pictures do not do it justice.
Last but not least, this song. I have been listening to it for a straight week. I first heard this gem while drinking a homemade lime-lemon soda at a cute coffee shop in Charlston, SC (#hipsterstatus). Enjoy!
What was your favorite thing about August?
